We have built the Lakehouse under the biohouse/ecohouse system, an eco-house is a dwelling with minimal impact on the environment, a bio-house is mainly concerned with optimizing human health, Wanaka Lakehouse is both. Built all from untreated timber, floors, walls, ceilings, roof and joinery; the house is warm and it breathes! We used biological/eco oils and varnishes and much olive oil to preserve the timber and use biological/eco products routinely in the house; from cleaners to soaps to food.
